2003 Appreciation Dinner Entertainment was quite good - a magician who wowed us all... and who picked the wrong person to pick on - the bill payer!
My first thought when I saw the large number of people (Ray says 137) who turned out for the dinner was "Why can't we get more people at regular meetings?!" Don't be shy, the Holiday Party is coming up… It was great for me to finally put names and faces together - many familiar names of people I had never seen nor met until last Saturday.
Who for example? An interesting man I had read about in the 40th book, Pev Peake, for one. I was very pleased to snap this picture of 3 of our charter members. Many awards were presented and thanks given for much hard work. I managed to get a few good pictures and will try to give a pictorial account of the day…
Jim and Nancy Willett received an award for their Swap Meet and luncheon in January at the Charlmont Restaurant.
For February we thanked Gael Boardman for an outstanding Film Night at the Vergennes Opera House and the buffing lessons we received at the Priority Express garage in March.
For April we honored Avery Hall, for the great effort of cleaning out his Charlotte garage enough to fit all of us, not to mention a very large cake as I remember.
May's meet was at the Sander garage complex and gave us a chance to peek at some of their amazing collection. Bill was not in attendance but Jan accepted the award and all of our thanks.
June's meet was at the Unsworth camp and Ray and Nomi were thanked for allowing us all to share their incredible views for the day.
July's Thunder Road event was put together by Gene Napolielo and he was thanked not just for the meet but honored with a lovely "Italian Attitude" sweat shirt as well, for all his contributions to the club.
August's Meet and Tour was hosted by Don Rayta and he put on a fine chase for us all… the September gathering was at the Basin Harbor Club - Wings, Wheels and Keels and was put together by Myndy Woodruff who was not in attendance.
October's Meet - the Anne Gypson Tour - was hosted and led by Jan and Bill Sander… Jan read a nice note from Ken Gypson (who had planned to attend but gotten sick) and she announced the winners… Jim Sears and Judy Boardman! They will be planning the meet next year to amuse and confuse all of us.
Awards were presented in advance for the November and December club activities…
November's Annual meeting is being put together by Steve Skinner and Fred Cook. Steve was not able to attend so we presented a thank you award to his daughter Sarah.
And for all of his hard work on the Holiday Party, Dan Lambert accepted a thank you for the December meet holiday party.
Appreciation for the Stowe Show co-chairs was given to Tom Maclay and Dick Currier in the form of huge gift baskets full of Vermont goodies, a round of applause and all our thanks for putting together another great event in 2003.
In this photo, our MC Ray Tomlinson presents similar gift baskets to our Shelburne co-chairs, Bill Erskine and Avery Hall, along with all our thanks for this year's splendid Shelburne Auto Festival.
Here's a picture of Mr. Conti being awarded the Italian Attitude sweat shirt in appreciation for all his hard work with the 50th Publication, the car shows and many other projects.
Here are some general pictures from around the room...
