Garage Tour September 15, 2006
Activities Report on the 2006 Garage Tour
From Gael Boardman:
Sunday, September 10th was a busy afternoon for those attending the garage tour. The tour managed 3 quick (22 minute) visits to friend and member garages between some scenic touring on a beautiful fall afternoon. Hosting us were Gordon Oatman in Williston (who is doing the woodwork on member Ron Sweet’s great 1916 VIM pickup), Carl Tatlock (who really went all out in his display and mini flea market) and Bill Billado (who has amazing stuff both in quantity and quality). Did you see Bill’s standard gauge train collection? Wow! The final stop was at member Avery Hall’s, “Avery’s Garage”, where the most recent project at the “Hall of Fame” is a beautifully done HCS touring car.
Avery indulged those touring to cider and a whole shop tour as well as hosting our monthly business meeting. If the above sounds like fun and you missed it… too bad. Incoming activities chair Nancy Willett was there and she may get us together again as all those filling out tour review forms said they would like to do this again for another meet. The questionnaire style form asked questions like what was the most unusual thing seen, most interesting, did you buy or sell anything and would you willing to put your garage on a future tour.
In reviewing the forms it appears that many agreed that Ron Sweet’s VIM was the most unusual and that Avery’s HCS was pretty interesting and quite unusual. Bill Billado gets the “Wow” award and Carl Tatlock wins the commerce award with his tasteful retail operation. (Also thanks for the tractors Carl.) Mrs. Tatlock also gets the garden award, hands down, which was just beautiful. The club toured with a really wide variety of cars and it was great to welcome a lovely 160 Packard sedan that hasn’t toured with us for quite a while. Our hobby in action. Thanks to all those who participated.
